Switzerland: "Apollo" Undergoes Revamp For Kyiv

"Apollo" Switzerland's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine has been revamped for the contest in May.

The official music video for "Apollo" the Swiss entry for the 62nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest has been released today. The official music video confirms that the song has undergone a revamp since winning the Swiss selection at the start of February. The instrumentation of the song has been revamped in both the chorus and the verses, with more power placed into the end of the song.

Timbelle won the Swiss selection process at the start of February with "Apollo" topping the public televote with 47.88% of the overall vote. They beat runner up Nadya by just under 30% of the vote. Apollo returned to the Swiss selection process having narrowly missed out on representing the country in Vienna, Austria in 2015 when Melanie Rene won with "Time To Shine".

Since winning the Swiss selection process Timebelle have begun promoting themselves abroad. The group whose lead singer Miruna Mănescu is from Romania kicked off their promotion their, performing at the final of the Romanian selection process as well as carrying out a number of radio and print media interviews. The group has also confirmed that they will be performing at Eurovision in Concert.

Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest:

Switzerland hosted the first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 a contest that they won. Lys Assia won the first contest with the song “Refrain”, it wasn’t until 1988 that Switzerland would win the contest again. At the contest in Dublin it was Celine Dion with “Ne partez pas sans moi” who beat the United Kingdom to victory by just 1 point. In recent years Switzerland has struggled finishing last five times since 2004. In the past two years Switzerland has failed to reach the final.
