Bulgaria: Kristian Kostov To Perform At Eurovision 2017

BNT has revealed this morning that Kristian Kostov will be representing them at the 62nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Kristian Kostov is the first singer in the Eurovision Song Contest's history to be born after the January 1st, 2000. His father is Bulgarian while his mother is from Kazakhstan. In 2014 he was one of the finalists of The Voice Kids, where he reached the final, he was coached by Dima Bilan in the contest. He will be performing "Beautiful Mess" for Bulgaria.

At 17:00 CET today, the Bulgarian entry for Ukraine will officially be revealed. According to the official Twitter account for BNT, three songs were in the running for the contest in May as of the middle of February, they were:
- Song One – modern, party, r&b, strong beat, club
- Song Three – modern, pop-ballad, dark, strong / meaningful
- Song Five – modern, mid-tempo, strong beat, very strong
Bulgaria returned to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2016 having last participated in the contest in 2013. The country over the years has struggled in the contest having only qualified twice for the final in 2007 and 2016. At last years contest in Stockholm, Poli Genova took the country to their best result to date finishing 4th in the final with "If Love Was A Crime".

Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest
At the 2016 contest in Stockholm Bulgaria had their best result to date. The country was represented by Poli Genova and the song “If Love Was A Crime”, finishing in 4th place in the final with 307 points. 2016 saw Bulgaria make only their second final in their Eurovision history, the first being in 2007 when Elitsa & Stoyan finished 5th with the song “Water”. Bulgaria debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine in 2005. The country competed annually from 2005 to 2013, before withdrawing for two years due to financial issues.
